Royal Docks Reimagined

A week of workshops reimaging the future of Royal Docks with local residents, hearing what they want to see more of and already love about their neighbourhoods!

Hosted at the newly-opened community hub in a former Compressor House, we met local groups of adults and children as well as those dropping by to see what’s happening in the space, talking them through the previous plans for Royal Docks using the large scale model upstairs.

Between hearing stories of how the area used to be inhabited and how it has evolved over time since become less working dock and industry focused, we helped them imagine where the future could be heading through cardboard modelmaking of the places they would like to see.

Coming together as new shared vision of Royal Docks, with spaces to socialise and play sports, libraries, nature and spiritual retreats… not to mention two spaceports and a crocodile sauna! Organised by Art in the Docks who provided all materials and tools, and spread the word amongst the local community. The week ended with a celebration of noise with their Bells & Whistles parade setting off from surrounding neighbourhoods for an impromptu music festival!
