Kitchen Build
A bespoke residential kitchen designed and built in East London, using cost-effective standard carcasses as a base, and custom plywood doors housing the boiler and storage.
The original layout was awkward and cramped, with a central kitchen island shrinking the lounge and blocking the light from the existing windows, which should have been a real strength of the space. Pushing the kitchen back against the long wall freed up the lounge for a more open-plan layout, currently divided by a sofa although now easily enough for a dining table also. The walls are kept clean and white, whilst the book-matched birch ply units add warmth and texture whilst looking neat and minimal.
The stainless steel worktop and oversize splashback by JLK-DS adds some drama whilst reflecting more of the natural light, with feel changing dramatically throughout the day as the sun moves across it’s semi-gloss surface, whilst the welded-in sink adds a bespoke feel. The clean industrial look is finished with stainless steel appliances from Smeg.
The rest of the house was also fully renovated at a later date.
